Fully Customizable, Fully Automated Linux Managed Hosting

Blunix Linux Managed Hosting runs on your IaaS / Cloud provider account. We install and operate a FOSS hosting stack using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management. You keep full ownership and root@.

Best filled out together with a Blunix consultant on the phone

In a short call we can already give you a guesstimation of how we would design the new setup (and what would change during migration).

Disclaimer: This calculator is not binding and purely for a very rough estimation.

We don’t know your final target design yet — but the calculator helps you understand the Linux Managed Hosting pricing model. Everything is negotiable.

Prices are net + VAT. The calculator estimates monthly recurring costs only. Final quotes always include a migration estimate (architecture, complexity, and downtime requirements).

Linux Managed Hosting Automation

FOSS Linux Hosting Toolkit

Our hosting toolkit is built on Terraform and Ansible and enables you to run your own hosting provider. All required code is FOSS and its maintenance included by your Service Level Agreement.

Required for Linux Managed Hosting SLA

Utility Stack

The Utility Stack is part of the operating model. It provides monitoring, backups, secure access (gateway), central logs, and Git tooling.

In order to get an SLA you need all of this. This is one of the reasons Linux Managed Hosting stays predictable and supportable.

Utility Stack Servers

cus-util-prod-gateway-1

Secure admin access gateway into your Linux Managed Hosting environment. Runs WireGuard for encrypted access to internal services.

cus-util-prod-gateway-2

Redundant WireGuard VPN gateway. Technically identical to gateway-1, provides failover access if gateway-1 or its provider has an outage.

cus-util-prod-log-1

Central logging endpoint for systems and services (auditability + troubleshooting). Runs systemd-journal-remote.

cus-util-prod-monitoring-1

Primary metrics monitoring and alerting for your Linux Managed Hosting environment. Runs Prometheus (time-series metrics + alert rules).

cus-util-prod-monitoring-2

Secondary metrics monitoring system for redundancy. Runs OneUptime. Runs with a different hosting provider for provider-outage survivability.

cus-util-prod-backup-1

Primary backup system for your Linux Managed Hosting workloads. Runs BorgBackup for efficient, encrypted, deduplicated backups. Runs with your default hosting provider.

cus-util-prod-backup-2

Secondary backup system for resilience (different toolchain). Runs Restic. Runs with a different hosting provider for provider-outage survivability.

Custom instances (your systems)

Now list what you operate today. This is used as a baseline for a rough Linux Managed Hosting estimate.

Important: For Linux Managed Hosting under SLA, we always migrate into a documented, automated, reproducible setup (IaC + config management).

During migration, the final design may change. The number of servers could stay similar — or it could change depending on the target architecture.

HA Projects

High Availability means we design redundant systems that can survive failures — this requires a specific architecture with multiple servers, failover mechanisms, and careful planning. If your project is critical and downtime costs money, HA is the way to ensure contractual uptime guarantees. We only offer HA for architectures that truly support it — you can't just "add HA" to a single-server setup.

HA uptime is priced as a percentage surcharge on the base price per server. The billed server count is determined by a Blunix consultant based on your actual architecture — similar servers may count as fewer billed units.

How we count similar servers:

If you have multiple identical servers like cus-www-prod-web-1 through cus-www-prod-web-6 (all running Apache2 + PHP-FPM), these are typically not 6× €50 but more like 2× €50 depending on the setup.

This is custom — we need to know what they run. Enter your best estimate for “Billable Units” (typically 1-2 for similar servers). Final pricing is determined during the migration planning call.

Migration-First Policy

Blunix Linux Managed Hosting under an SLA is migration-first. We do not take over unknown, hand-crafted, legacy systems as-is under the SLA. We always migrate into a documented, automated, reproducible setup.

If you need someone to take over an existing legacy system without migration, consider our rent-a-linux-admin service instead.
